Geneseo Community Unit School District #228

Vocational Programs Build Skilled Graduates

Geneseo, IL | Completed August 2023

Located on the Geneseo High School campus, the new 12,000 square foot Career & Technology Center is designed to expand hands-on learning opportunities and strengthen workforce connections for students.

The standalone facility accommodates 45 students and three teachers — a 33% increase from the district’s previous vocational spaces — and features dedicated areas for automotive, metals, and woods/building trades instruction.

Two state-of-the-art classrooms are equipped with new technology to support modern learning and apprenticeship programs in computer numerical control (CNC) and residential carpentry, providing real-world training that prepares students for in-demand careers.

The building’s exterior design reflects the architectural character of Geneseo High School, creating a cohesive campus aesthetic while signaling a bold investment in the future of skilled trades education. By increasing student participation in vocational programs, the district is not only empowering its learners but also strengthening the local economy and building a sustainable pipeline of skilled graduates ready to contribute to the region’s workforce for generations to come.
