Onekama Consolidated Schools

The new addition and modernization of the campus was a culmination of years of planning and a shared vision to have this K-12 school be the hub of community life long learning, physical activity and fine arts experience. 19,000 SF of the 1930 building, including kitchen/cafeteria, art room, four classrooms, bathrooms, weight room and bus garage, was demolished to make room for improvements. The new gymnasium with seating for 1000 features a walking track with adjacent fitness center and weight room, all open to the public on a daily basis. The new 300-seat cafetorium features a state-of-the-art kitchen area, theatre lighting, sound system, backlight cyclorama screen and projection system along with curved radius wall and ceiling wood panels to enhance acoustics and diffuse sound. Technological improvements included facility-wide secure WIFI and Smart Boards for all MS/HS classrooms along with projection system, cable TV/VCR/DVD and document camera. Other project features include new art room, Early Childhood Education classrooms with dedicated playground, locker rooms, band room, mechanical room featuring computer controlled heating and ventilation systems, 5-bay bus garage and athletic field lighting.
