Interphase Interiors - Studio Blue

Interphase Interiors is a West Michigan Haworth office furniture dealer located in the suburbs of Grand Rapids.  West Michigan believes our region’s future depends on developing and promoting a creative community identifying design as a key element to renewed growth. Downtown Grand Rapids is at the heart of that effort.  In March of 2014 Interphase Interiors made the decision to contribute to that creative community by locating a collaborative showroom in the center of downtown.

The challenge of this project centered on creating a workspace for Interphase Interiors employees as well as designing a showroom for customers.  Additionally, Interphase Interiors requested a collaboration space for partner interior designers and architects, all within a very small footprint.

The 1,600 SF multi-use space was named Studio Blue, and is located on the ground floor within a multi-use facility called Blue 35, a recently renovated 1914 urban-industrial building.  Studio Blue was designed to celebrate the original finishes and structural character of the building, while inserting modern furniture by Haworth designers from around the globe.

The floor plan is unified by a central booth seating element and sheltering wood slats that are painted to reflect the colors of the Interphase brand.  This element divides the space into work styles, promoting the unique ways in which people work. These work styles are reflected in the low interaction and tactical focus of the private offices, and in the high interaction and strategic focus of the lounge furnishings.
Completed in February of 2015, the space is an investment in the Grand Rapids community providing warm, inviting spaces to gather, share ideas or simply relax.
