GMB Advises Property Owners to Mitigate the Risk of Roof Problems Caused by Snowfall

West Michigan, much like other areas of the country, has experienced historic levels of snowfall so far this year. Most areas have seen over 100 inches of snow – some have had much more.

We wanted to remind you to clear snow and ice from rooftops, exposed structures, roof drains and scuppers. It is likely that we will experience more snow and freezing rain this season, so it is important to take action to decrease snow loads and ice accumulation.

There are several ways to safely remove ice and snow. Whether you take action to remove the snow on your own or hire a contractor, caution is advised to avoid personal injury or damage to the building.

With the proper precaution, problems caused by ice and snow are easily avoidable.
