CONGRATULATIONS to MASA Regional Superintendents of the Year!

GMB congratulates our clients Kevin Hughes (Onekama Consolidated Schools) and Dr. Curtis Finch, Jr. (Mecosta-Osceola Intermediate School District) on being recognized by MASA (Michigan Association of School Administrators) as a Regional Superintendent of the Year. This award is presented to individuals who have shown tremendous effort and dedication to enriching the lives of children and the community as a whole. Regional Superintendents of the Year are selected by region representatives, and recognized for strong leadership, creativity in successfully meeting the needs of students, communication skills, professionalism, community involvement and the success of students that has taken place during tenure in their district.

Kevin Hughes, Onekama Consolidated Schools
Kevin Hughes is recognized as a forward-thinking leader who has strengthened and enhanced his district. Hughes played an integral part of the passage of a recent $14.1 million bond, which allowed the renovation and expansion of the district’s campus and has enabled the implementation of a community recreation center that meets the needs of their athletes and the overall population of the district. These expansions included an Art Studio, Performing Arts Center, and state-of-the-art kitchen, which have allowed increase community use of the facility. Added enhancements include all-inclusive year-round childcare for infants through pre-school and the enhanced integration of technology in the form of smart boards, wireless internet, laptops, iPads, updated computer labs, virtual lessons, and on-line courses.

Curtis Finch, Jr. was nominated for recognition by his board and supported by the local superintendents in his service area. They recognize Finch as an innovator and passionate advocate for public education and, more importantly, for the children they serve.
